A lifelong resident and native of the Pacific Northwest, Mary Lamery earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Economics/Math from Western Washington University, Bellingham, WA in 1984. From 1990-1991, she studied at Parsons School of Design in New York City concentrating on Fine Arts-Painting. Since 1991, she has maintained a private oil painting studio. In addition to formal artistic training and studio practice, Lamery cultivated a successful career as a fundraiser and event planner in the non-profit sector. For approximately 20 years, she has led or served on efforts collectively raising over one million dollars annually for local area non-profits that contribute to the social and emotional well being of children and families. She continues to serve her community as an active volunteer for local non-profits, including the Seattle Art Museum and the Pike Place Market Senior Center and Food Bank.

Mary is an incorrigible Francophile and the human mom of two cats, Édith and Gigi.
